Here are some commonly asked
questions about MsgBlaster. If you have more questions,

What is MsgBlaster?
| |
MsgBlaster is a powerful SMS and Email campaigning
tool. You can send large number of SMS and Emails to
your customers / contacts from your PC. MsgBlaster
provides rich set of features to implement your
promotion strategies. Click here to know more about
applications of MsgBlaster. |
What
are campaigns?
| |
Campaigns
are your strategy of communicating some message to
your contacts. E.g. your new product announcement
campaign can contain several email and/or sms
messages to your customers, distributors etc. The
message sent to customers will be different from
message sent to distributors. But all customers will
get the message at the same time. MsgBlaster helps
you to manage your campaigns and execute them. |
What
are Events & Alerts / Reminders?
| |
Events are some dates, e.g. birthday or contract
expiry date, that is unique to each contact. Since
each contact will have birthday on different date,
you need to track the date for each contact.
MsgBlaster tracks the dates and allows you to send
messages (Alerts/Reminders/Greetings) to each
contact on the respective date. |
How
long does it take to send SMS?
| |
MsgBlaster
delivers the message to the mobile network in real
time. i.e. as soon as your request is validated and
if you have enough credits to send the SMS, the
messages are delivered to the mobile network.
Thereafter, the actual delivery time will vary
depending upon the provider and the traffic level at
that time. Usually the delivery time is between 10
seconds to 10 minutes. However, longer delays are
possible at times. |
Will
my ISP object if I send large number of emails through
their server?
| |
Well, it
depends on the number of emails you are trying to
send and the policy of the ISP regarding bulk
emails. You can check with your ISP for more
details. In general if you are sending thousands of
emails fairly regularly, your ISP will object. In
this case you can use DirectSend option of
MsgBlaster. |
What
is DirectSend? Why do I need it?
| |
MsgBlaster can send emails using your ISP or using
DirectSend mode. In DirectSend mode, MsgBlaster uses
a built-in SMTP server (email server) to send
emails. Thus your ISP server is completely bypassed.
MsgBlaster delivers the mail directly to the
recipient's mailbox. |
Do
I need a permanent IP address to use DirectSend?
| |
No!
DirectSend can be used even on dial-up connections
to send emails directly to the recipients. Some mail
servers, however, perform a reverse DNS check before
accepting the mail. In such case you will require
valid domain name resolving to your current IP
address. You can use dynamic DNS if you do not have
permanent IP address. |
What
is TurboSend? Why do I need TurboSend?
| |
In TurboSend mode, MsgBlaster sends out many emails
at a time using multi-threading. This can
significantly increase the speed of sending emails.
Use of TurboSend is optional. |
How
is the recipient protected from SMS spamming?
| |
MsgBlaster
requires you to register your mobile number before
you could send SMS to the recipients. This mobile
number is published as the sender's number. The
recipients can always SMS back or call to this
number in case they do not wish to receive further
SMS. You can then unsubscribe those contacts
(unsubscribing does not remove the contact from your
data). |
What
is spamming by the way?
| |
There are various definitions of what can be
considered as spam. The simplest definition is an
unsolicited message sent without giving a fair
chance of not receiving any further messages. i.e.
contacting you to ask to remove from your list. |
Does
MsgBlaster include any ready to use database of Email
and SMS?
| |
NO! Graceworks does not
collect or sell database of any type. You must build
/ use your own data. |
Can
I import existing data into MsgBlaster?
| |
Yes! MsgBlaster provides importing from Outlook and
Text format. More import options will be provided in
future releases. |
Which
mobile networks can I send messages to?
| |

| |
Overseas networks will be support in future.
Currently only Indian networks are supported. |
Can
I send SMS to a local number that is roaming?
Am
I charged if the mobile is switched off?
| |
If the mobile is switched off, the mobile service
provider will attempt delivery for few hours. The
time for which the message is held will vary between
mobile provider. In case the mobile is not available
for long duration, the message is discarded.
However, the message is still billed.
Why? because the fact that mobile is not available
is known only after the message travels through the
mobile network. |
What
are SMS credits?
| |
SMS credits are similar to
pulse rate of phone call. For one text SMS message
to Indian GSM networks and Reliance network, you
consume one credit. You may require more credits for
overseas SMS messages since the rates are different. |
What
do I need to have to be able to use MsgBlaster?
| |

Why
do I need to register my mobile number to use
MsgBlaster?
| |
Registering your number
protects the recipient from spamming. It also
protects your by ensuring that nobody else can use
your mobile number without your consent to send
messages. |
Will
my mobile provider bill me for the SMS that I sent since
my number is registered with MsgBlaster?
| |
NO! You purchase SMS credits from Graceworks
Technologies. That's the only payment you need to
make. Though the recipients see your numbers as
sender's number, you will not be billed again by
